      I wanted a thumbprint cookies that did not have nuts and this one turned out perfectly. I did chill the dough about 20 minutes and used a melon baller (using the back) to press out the hole. They looked beautiful. Filled with some homemade strawberry preserves.

      Great recipe! I sometimes use almond extract instead of the vanilla. Chilling the dough about 20 minutes before rolling into balls helps working with a sticky dough. Also, dipping your finger into the flour before making the print works well.

      Wonderful! Easy to make and taste great! Next time I am going to add almond extract (didn't have any in the house today) or maybe even half almond half vanilla.

      Thanks Leanne for sharing this recipe - I had been searching for a recipe for Thumbprint cookies just like this one. I used almond extract and cherry jam. The tips from the other reviewers to use the melon baller and almond extract really helped. My cookies turned out perfectly.
