Make and share this Thick, Creamy Arabic Almond Milk recipe from Food.com.
- 3 cups milk
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons ground almonds
- 3 tablespoons rice flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom seed
- powdered ginger, for sprinkling
- Bring the milk to a boil over low heat.
- Add sugar, ground almonds, and rice flour.
- Cook for 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Add the cardamom, stir.
- Strain into individual cups.
- Sprinkle ground ginger over each cup; drink hot.
Made as written-wonderful beverage! Ground my own almond flour and rice flour using a spice mill. Tried jasmine rice in place of standard white rice. This is what I call comfort food and is simply perfect in every way. Very satisfying on a cool, rainy morning. Reviewed for N*A*M*E Tag April/May. PS To avoid burning the milk, use the smallest burner on your stove top. Thank you for posting the recipe!
this is so good .i put flour sugar and almonds in milk before boiling and just whisked alot this is warm tastes great. im going to be making this in the winter in place of hot cocoa .try this its great i. also used vanilla instead of cardomom cause ,as you know i only like it in bread, im weird i know . dee
This beverage is so tasty, although I don't think my almonds were ground as small as they should have been as I used them straight from a bag of ground almonds. I also used brown rice flour that I had left over from making gluten free bread. My almonds also had the brown skin on them. Next time I make it, I will grind he almonds myself. Made for Casual January 2013 Veggie tag.
