I cooked this in my slow cooker for 8 hours on auto (or low) while I was at work. I used only 1L of ginger beer and topped up with 2L water. At first, I wasn't too sure about the smell when I walked in the door, but I think it was just unexpected (it wasn't bad!!). OH, let me tell you though, the taste was supurb! It's good after the meat has rested and even better the next day! It still had a definite gingerbeer aroma, but not as strong in flavouring the meat. Yep! I'm impressed! :D

I too have tried this recipe and really enjoyed it. As with the other review I made it in my slow cooker, but did not notice any funny smell and I did use only ginger beer (no water). The aroma was very inticing and the flavour of the silverside was incredible. We didn't end up with much left over as everyone had seconds. Usually my family do not enjoy silverside but this recipe will become one of our family favourites. Very impressive and very very very easy to prepare, and minimal preparation time (my favourite). And yes I now consider myself a godess in the kitchen!!!!!
