We didn't care for this much. It was kind of bland and didn't really taste like a Twinkie at all.

I chose to make a two-layer round cake instead. Very good!

I made this for my boyfriend's birthday and all his friends loved it. So good can't wait to make it again.

This is the ULTIMATE Twinkie cake. I think it took about 3 minutes on medium for the flour and water to get thick. It cooled in the fridge in about 45 minutes. I beat the sugar, shorting, and msrgarine almost 5 minutes. With the hand mixer between high and medium to get most of the grittiness out . Added the flour mixture and beat another 5 minutes with my hand mixer on high.Perfect. Used the filling for frosting. LOL

We had never tried twinkie cake before, but we're glad we did. It is definitely better after it's been refrigerated for a day. We think it would be great with a strawberry topping (like strawberry shortcake). Thanks for posting.
