What a fantastic treat! My husband can't stop talking about this one. I usually don't like strawberry shortcake, and I am crazy about this dessert. Will try it in a trifle dish next time like some have suggested. I used half regular angel food cake, and half sour cream angel food cake. Turned our delicious. My sister is a strawberry fanatic -- can't wait to get this recipe over to her. Thanks!!!
I love anything with strawberries and this was no exception. This recipe was easy and most of all DELISH! I made it for a church function and there wasn't even a crumb left. It was the hit of the function. I will definetly be sharing this recipe. I did use low fat cream cheese and fat free cool whip to cut down on calories.
We loved this! I used Splenda instead of granulated sugar and layered it into a trifle dish. It made an awesome presentation! I just scooped up servings with a large spoon. We had smiles all around the table.
Very light and yummy , the only change I made was to use real whipping cream, the store bought stuff is garbage. Im serving this at my wedding since Im not a fan of spending $900 on a wedding cake.
My favorite strawberry shortcake is still ''the one Mom always made.'' Clean and cut the berries at least in half; cut larger berries more. Macerate the berries with something close to 1/2 cup sugar to 1 cup cut berries, or more, long enough to dissolve all or most of the sugar. Stir occasionally. This yields a lot of that luscious syrup. Just before serving, bake fresh, old-fashioned lard and baking soda biscuits until lightly browned with a crunchy crust. Have things ready to assemble the individual servings as soon as the biscuits come out of the oven. For each serving, cut a biscuit in half and generously butter each half. Place the bottom half into the dish and top generously with strawberries and syrup. Add the top half of the biscuit and add more strawberries and syrup on top. Pour a reasonably generous amount or cream over the whole thing and eat before the biscuits get cold and lose their crunch. Please, don't tell my cardiologist that I posted this!
Use this recipe to the 'T'; it's very moist and now the ONLY way I make strawberry shortcake! Thank you for sharing!
I didn't use this entire recipe - just the cream cheese/whipped topping. I already have a great recipe for shortcake biscuits (which I will post), but this cream filling with the strawberries was the perfect combination.
Wowwy, Wow, Wow! Definately the best Strawberry Shortcake I've ever eaten! I couldn't put it down. Thank you! I'll surely be passing this one around!
I made this using fat free cream cheese and fat free whipped topping, but don't tell! I never mentioned it and no one could tell. I took it to the in laws for a father's day cook out. The plates all came back clean. I think it's safe to say it was enjoyed by all.
SO easy!! So quick! Absolutely YUMMY!! I used strawbeeries, blueberries and rasperries for my dish. I also sliced the strawberries a little more than just halving them. This looked beautiful w/ the different berries and tasted even better. Made one for a family dinner and it went over so well and was so easy that I made it for work a couple days later...just because. This recipe is defintely a keeper!!
