  1. In large heavy pan, brown pt roast in shortening.
  2. Pour off fat.
  3. Stir in tomato soup, onion, & garlic.
  4. Cover & simmer 3 hours or until tender.
  5. Stir & skim off fat.
  6. Thicken gravy, if desired.
