What a fantastic salad! I prepared the nuts a day in advance, and I was lucky to have any left for the salad, they are so good! I also made the dressing a day also. I used feta instead of blue cheese, served this with romaine lettuce. DH gave this "two thumbs up" we loved this liz, I can't wait to make this again, thanks for sharing such a great recipe!...Kitten:)
We all loved this salad! I made it the first time when I had a houseful of guests- it was a hit! The pecans are fantastic - hard to resist nibbling on the leftovers. I simply grated onion on a fine grater for the onion juice in the dressing recipe.
Oh yea- The recipes name says it all----I loved the nuts and everything else about this salad!!!Thanx for sharing
Had this for lunch today and it was very yummy.
We truly enjoyed this salad. I did make a change to the nuts. I didn't have any cayenne so I subed a bit of seasoning salt and I only made the dressing with half the amount of sugar listed. I don't like blue cheese so I used feta as a reviewer had and it was still delicious. The leftover vinigrette will be good on other greens as well.
DH agreed with the title, but the rest of us rated it a little lower. Only DH did not find the nuts too spicy and they were a bit time consuming to make. The dressing was quite sweet and made way way more than we needed. I did not have onion juice, or know how to make it, so I pureed it in my blender with the vinegars before adding the other ingredients. The variety of tates between the apple, blue cheese, nuts and greens was truly delightful.
I knew that I would love this salad. The nuts are scrumptious and I couldn't stop eating them! My husband had requested a "good salad" and he really enjoyed it as well. I had to use feta, but can't wait to try it with the blue cheese. Roxygirl in Colo.
