I'm not sure what I did wrong, if anything, but the egg and the milk separated, and kind of curdled when cooking, and it was completely unappetizing. I followed the recipe exactly. Sorry!
My first time making rice pudding and it was great! I saved on dirty dishes by mixing everything in the baking dish. I put the sugar, cornstarch, salt & cinnamon (in place of the nutmeg) in the dish & mixed it together. Then I whisked in the milk & vanilla, omitting the egg yolks b/c I don't have a separator. I did add a little bit more vanilla & cinnamon than called for. Added the rice & followed the baking directions. Exactly 1 1/2 hrs later it was done. The result was the best rice pudding I've ever tasted & it was so good warm out of the oven!
I mixed this all up in a Pyrex round bowl and baked it. It made clean up a snap. I used 1/4 cup Spelnda for the sugar. This needed 1 1/2 hours in my oven and next time I would leave out the nutmeg completely and use cinnamon which is just a personal preference.
This was delicious. I used heavy cream and 1% milk and 1 1/2 cups of leftover dinner rice. I also increased the vanilla to 1 tsp. It was rich, creamy and totally satisfying!
Due to my oversight I overcooked rice for dinner. Of course I also made a lot more then what we needed, leaving me with lots of overcooked rice that could not be reused for next meal. On the whim I made rice pudding with it hoping to save some of the wasted food. The results were awesome! The pudding is supper easy to make and great tasting. I never made rice pudding and the only time we ever had it was in the restaurant or store brought, no more! From now on I will stick to this great recipe and make it more often! 5 STARS!
This was really good. I accidently cooked it an extra 37 minutes because I was putting kids in bed. But it was still good, and the kids that had some devoured it! OH, and I used arrowroot in place of the cornstarch due to allergies.
This is a very good recipe , first time making rice pudding and it was delicious, followed the recipe EXACTLY as said. I just used a bigger baking dish which only required 1 hr 15 minutes in the oven. AWESOME, a Keeper for me!
My DD anted Rice Pudding. I could not find the recipe that I make. I have to say this is a 5 star recipe. I will make it again.
I had some left over Basmati rice, so that is what I used, maybe this recipe would have worked better with jasmine rice, however I didn't think the overall flavors were much good. I didn't like the nutmeg flavoring, I felt it was bland overall as a recipe, with nutmeg overpowering it. I don't plan on making this again.
My BF and I loved this recipe. I followed the recipe the first time and it great. The second time I tried it with cinnamon and a little less nutmeg and it was still good. Thanks for helping me find a wonderful use for leftover rice.
