Hmm... not sure why mine turned out a little different. Everything went well making the dough. I even found it pliable enough to add one cup of craisins in addition to the chocolate. But when baking they spread out a lot and became thin. I think I could easily cut the butter back to 3/4 cup.
I made these for the 3rd time this week last night (it's only Thursday!) and my family and I cannot get enough of them. We were even 1/2 cup short of oats, so I subbed in 2 instant packets of maple brown sugar oatmeal and it was still great! I definitely recommend keeping the recipe as is, but I really don't see how someone couldn't love these! Next time I'm going to try some dark chocolate chips and nuts... YUM!
These were OK. I thought the cinnamon was over-powering and, perhaps a little too heavy on the oats. I won't make them again.

These are the BEST chocolate chip oatmeal cookies I have ever had or made, and both my family and my co-workers agree! I did make two chages - for the sugars, I used 1/2 cup light brown sugar, 1/4 cup dark brown, and 3/4 cup white - personal preferance. I also used 1/2 TBSP vanilla, rather than 1 TSP. The cinnamon was a unique and subtle touch, too. overall, wonderful recipe.
