ingredients
- 1814.36 g bone-in country-style pork ribs
- 9.85 ml salt, divided
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 236.59 ml firmly packed light brown sugar
- 236.59 ml apple butter
- 236.59 ml ketchup
- 118.29 ml lemon juice
- 118.29 ml orange juice
- 14.79 ml steak sauce
- 4.92 ml fresh coarse ground black pepper
- 4.92 ml minced garlic
- 2.46 ml Worcestershire sauce
directions
- Cut ribs apart, if necessary and trim; sprinkle 1 teaspoon salt evenly over ribs, and set aside.
- In a medium to large bowl, stir together remaining 1 teaspoon salt, and remaining ingredients until blended.
- Pour half of mixture into a 5-quart slow cooker. Place ribs in slow cooker and pour remaining mixture over ribs.
- Cover and cook on HIGH 6 to 7 hours.

I had just under 4.5lbs of ribs, made the recipe exact except that I didn't have apple butter - I had apple jelly, so I used that - I figured it would give it a thicker sauce. Not so. The sauce was very soupy, and the ribs pretty much boiled in it. I think I'd just use a bottle of bbq sauce next time - less time and less money. Parts of the ribs were dry.
