Move over Emeril!... you will never purchase Creole or Cajun seasoning again once you taste this one --- I have searched for the longest time to find the best seasoning blend, this is it! --- four tablespoons of seasoned salt will not be overly-salty if you prefer a more salty taste then add in some white salt --- this makes a fair amount of seasoning, just store in a tightly-sealed glass jar in the refrigerator to use in ground beef recipes, soups, or stews, homemade pasta sauce recipes, or use it to season roasts, chickens, pork, beef, I use it on just about everything! If you like extreme spice then increase the cayenne up to 4-5 teaspoons. This makes a great gift for a spice-lover!
- 29.58 ml onion powder
- 29.58 ml garlic powder
- 29.58 ml dried oregano
- 29.58 ml dried basil
- 14.79 ml dried thyme
- 14.79 ml fresh ground black pepper
- 14.79 ml white pepper (or 2 use tablespoons black pepper)
- 14.78 ml cayenne pepper
- 73.94 ml paprika
- 59.16-73.94 ml seasoning salt (I use Hy's seasoned salt for this but Lawry's is good also!)
- Mix all ingredients in a glass jar.
- Store in the refrigerator to keep the spices fresh.
- Shake the jar before using.
Wow...this was the best in a cajun chicken pasta.I loved the flavor while not feeling like my mouth was on fire...hubby agreed.I halved it so as not to make too much.I only had 1-TBSP of season salt so I used what I had & added 1-TBSP of regular salt to compensate.I also added 1-TBSP of both cumin & sugar...for balance.Very tasty stuff!Kittencal My Dear,I keep finding that I am using more of your recipes then anything else! Thanks so much for all your postings!
I'm making gator bites tonight and ran out of creole seasoning so I decided to give this recipe a try today. I did have to do some substituting, marjoram for thyme (my thyme is still on the drying rack, dang humidity!) and I cut back on the paprika because I only had 3T, but what I made is really good and I look forward to trying the correct recipe.
This is so good that I've decided to go ahead and use it to make pulled pork for dinner instead of the steak I was planning with the gator bites.
Yep! This is an awesome recipe. Used it for BBQ shrimp!
