Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small sauce pan.
  2. Cook over low heat until of desired thickness. This will take up to 2 hours. maybe more.
  3. **Stir frequently to prevent burning, and don't over cook it, it will curdle.

Awesome! Never buying carmel sauce again. I've tried other recipes and I like this one the best.

I made this as a replacement for storebought caramel ice cream topping in another recipe -- sooo good! Two hours cooking time on low (simmer on my oven dial) produced a nice thick sauce, and I didn't have any trouble with scorching or curdling. The two hours seemed to go by pretty quick, too, because I just put the caramel on to cook while I was cooking other things. I was already at the stove, so it was easy to remember to stir the caramel sauce. Thanks for posting!
