The Best Baked Fish in Town

"My husband hates fish, just about every kind, but he loved this, it has a mild flavor, yet it's delicious. It Originally came from an ad for the Sea Food department in a grocery store, and after a little tweaking I've now got this."

Reviews

  1. We would recommend going light on the lemon or skipping it altogether. The bread crumbs were soggy so the elimition of the lemon would help crisp up the bread crumbs. All in all a nice easy dish to make. The Old Bay lovers out there like this one.

  2. We thought this was ok. The only thing we really did not like, flavorwise, is the lemon. The breadcrumbs seemed to be soggy around the outside edges as well.

  3. Thoroughly enjoyable. Easy & fast to make. I used basa filets and only a few Panko crumbs. Very healthy and tasty - I love Old Bay Seasoning. Thanks for posting this lovely recipe Added note - I used no salt

  4. This is very salty, even though I guessed that the salt was a typo, based on previous reviews. I used 1 teaspoon, rather than 1 tablespoon, but even then, my salt loving husband found it too salty. I was also surprised by how spicy it was. I guess I have never used Old Bay in such quantities - I hadn't realized it had such a kick. The first ingredient of Old Bay is also salt, which may account for the too salty flavour.

  5. I love this recipe. So easy and delicious!!!

Tweaks

  1. This is a truly delicious recipe. I substituted the vinegar for vermouth (which I learned can be used instead of white wine. It keeps longer and usually costs a lot less).

  2. I made a few adjustments which might have kinda ruined this - I used panko breadcrumbs instead of seasoned, and cooked the whole 2 pounds on one baking sheet. What I ended up with was OKAY flavor, not great, and the topping was large blobs that were kind of gross. Not one I will bother to repeat, although I did make my own Old Bay seasoning using another recipe on Recipezaar, and that part was kind of fun.

  3. This was delicious, and so easy to throw together! I think the hardest part was getting the fish to thaw LOL. I would agree with Ginny Sue that this is pretty salty; I cut it back some based on her review and next time will do so even more. I used lemon pepper instead of black pepper, also. With a salad and Recipe #323772 this was a lovely meal! Thanks so much for posting! This is definitely going in my keeper file.
