This is more delicious than Thanksgiving dinner itself, and it's certainly a lot more nutritious :)
- 2 slices whole wheat bread
- roast turkey meat
- cranberry sauce
- cheddar cheese
- green leaf lettuce
- Toast bread, if desired; spread both slices with mayonnaise (I also like to put some sweet mustard on it).
- Layer turkey, cranberry sauce, cheese, and lettuce on one slice of bread and top with second slice.
this IS really good - i don't put the cheese on, though - and i shred the lettuce if you don't have cranberry sauce, you can use a good jam or jelly, too - like tiptree morello cherry... and you can use chicken all through the year instead of turkey -
this is also good with stuffing on it
This is absolutely the way that I make my leftover turkey sandwiches, not an ingredient changed! (Right down to the touch of mustard...) I think it's the perfect combination of flavors, too. My co-worker Amy puts thin slices of Granny Smith apple on hers but her cranberry sauce tends to be a bit sweeter. I like the tarter cranberry sauce without the apple.
