My first ever attempt at 'real' cranberry sauce and it was delicious. I used fresh squeezed orange juice instead of the water. It is only me at home so I incorporated the leftovers instead of applesauce in oatmeal cookies...good stuff! Thanks for a great recipe :)
We had this with turkey and it complimented it perfectly. It is hard to get cranberries here and they are pretty expensive so I halved the recipe but it worked out perfectly. I think it would go really good with deer as well.
Thank you so much for this recipe. I follow the recipe as wriiten, this is even good with pork or lamb. Everyone loved it last Thanksgiving with the turkey. Thank you so much. I will never buy canned cranberry sauce again.
I looked for a wine/cranberry sauce after having been served some at a charity luncheon put on by Houston top chefs. I found this recipe and I knew it would be similar to what I had already tasted. I used a cheap leftover sweet red wine I had forgotten in the refrigerator and used a little less sugar. It turned out PERFECT.
My new signature dish - served it last night - already had 3 requests for the recipe. Too easy (just as easy as opening a can). The 30 min prep seems rather high though...or I did something different since we had it bubbling away in only 5.
Wow, this was beyond words. I couldn't believe how wonderful the cranberries and port wine tasted together. It mellowed out the tart cranberries just perfectly. It wasn't too sweet either. It was very easy but tasted like a chef prepared it. My husband was very impressed. He bought a backup can of cranberry sauce just in case. We didn't touch it! (smile) This is now part of our thanksgiving tradition. Thanks!
Oh, was this ever good! Nice and easy cranberry sauce. The aroma when cooking was fabulous. I didn't have port wine, I used a red wine a had on hand. Thanks for the recipe. Why buy canned sauce!?
