This was good. Next time I think I would add more garlic, more chilies (I used crushed red pepper), and a touch more fish sauce. The raw chicken basically soaked up all the marinade but after it cooked in the skillet for a while, it released all the liquid, so I drained it then in order to brown the chicken a little, and added it back along with the basil once the chicken was browned. Very tasty!

Very easy, great way to use up basil. I added mushrooms and green peppers and used sesame oil.

I'm not sure if what went wrong here. I get a dish very similar to this when I got out for Thai and I love it. This was so salty that I couldn't even eat it. Sorry for such a low mark. Thanks for the post.

The person who gave this recipe one star should be ashamed. If you think that you might have made a mistake, don't rate it. This is actually a great recipe. Delicious. Reminded me of living in Thailand. The only changes that I made was using 1 red chilie, seeds and all, and no red pepper flakes. If you use don't remove the seeds, one chilie is plenty spicy. Also, I used boneless chicken thighs - which are much tastier...

What an excellent flavorful dish! The flavor of the basil combines with the onion so that neither tastes like too much is used, and is the perfect complement to the chicken. I doubled the amount of chiles (I used Thai dragons) and it was nicely spicy for me. A definite keeper! Thanks!

I tried this recipe as my first attempt at making basil chicken. This is a light dish with good flavor.
