You just can't beat a big helpin' of slaw with BBQ at a picnic. This recipe is my version of my granny's classic.
- 6 cups Miracle Whip
- 1⁄3 cup horseradish
- 1 tablespoon dill
- 1 tablespoon black pepper (finely ground)
- 1 tablespoon celery seed
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon dry mustard
- 1 gallon prepared coleslaw mix
- Mix all ingredients except the cabbage mix and refrigerate overnight.
- Mix in cabbage mix 2 hours prior to serving, and refrigerate.
For one large head of cabbage, one large green pepper and 4 grated carrots I made half of the dressing recipe w/double of the horseradish. I cut w/knife for larger "shreds" - for 20 people - really excellent!
This is a very good cole slaw. The sauce would make a good dip for veggies too. I will be making this again. I only made 1/2 this time but will make a full batch for picnics.
