Yummy! The Stilton cheese sauce really brings this steak up a notch. The steaks were tender and juicy and the sauce was delicious with just enough tanginess from the Stilton cheese. Easy to make and elegant enough for company. Made for December 2012 Aus/NZ Swap.
This tastes delicous! Instructions were easy to follow and worked out well! I made two steaks with the whole sauce reciepe. Couldnt find stilton (live in a small town) so used a mild blue cheese. A rich tasty treat for steak! Thanks for a great recipe.
I ate this while watching American Idol....not sure if I became emotional because of the absolute deliciousness of this steak or because the group of contestants were singing Sweet Home Alabama (great memories)! This is phenomenal.....wonderful for a special occasion or when you want to treat yourself. I halved the recipe, but made all the sauce.....love stilton! Thanks for sharing this delicious recipe!!
Stilton is wickedly expensive in Australia, so I subbed a Mainland Blue. I can only imagine what this sauce would taste like using Stilton because we thought it was fantastic using the cheese we did. I went out into the garden, picked the parsley then forgot to use it, but no matter, it was all about the cheese I'm sure. We ate our steaks with crushed potatoes and a pear and rocket salad and the sauce was great with all of them. I made the sauce, set it aside, Russ cooked our steaks on the BBQ, then I reheated the sauce gently. It worked just fine that way.
Although I used another method to marinate the filet mignons for couple of hours, I used this wonderful Stilton cheese sauce and it was totally delish! The only substitution I made was instead of using shallot, I used garlic. The use of nutmeg with the Stilton here is what makes this sauce wonderful. Thank you Baby Kato for the recipe.
We really enjoyed this sauce! The beef stands up nicely to the strong flavor of the cheese. So glad I tried this recipe.
