We loved it! I was looking for a cheap and easy recipe for a Friday evening. The only changes I made were using ground chicken, 98% fat free cream of chicken soup, and 2% milk shredded cheddar cheese. I thought those changes might make up for all the tater tots ;) It was delicious, and I will definitely make it again!
Mmmm, tater tots. I love tater tots, they remind me of elementary school and happy things. My mom didn't ever keep them in the house when my older brother and I were little, so I was excited to try this recipe. My husband and I both thought it was good. I used 1 lb. ground bison, and I drained the grease before adding the seasonings, so I wouldn't drain any seasonings away (if that makes sense), and I used Cajun Spice Rub Mix Recipe for the cajun seasoning. More tater tots on top would have been cool, but I was satisfied with the amount that was in the casserole (there was a BUNCH on the bottom, so each spoonful had a lot o' tot. Haha). I guess I need to work on my tater tot distributing skills. ;) I would definitely make this again. Thanks for posting it! Made for Spring PAC 2010.
easy to make substitutions with other ingredients you have in the house.
The family loved this (especially the kids)! Thanks!!
Excellent recipe! TY for posting it. I changed some things around a bit, but it still turned out brilliant. 2 lbs gr turkey; 1 lg onion; a third of a block of a Velveeta knockoff, cubed, instead of slices; fine-chopped chiles As always, everything to taste. I will use this recipe many times, I imagine, as money is tight.
I made this for my 3 year old daughter and myself. I had everything on hand except for the tator tots so it was a real inexpensive meal. It was great and there was plenty of leftovers. I brought them to work the next day and the guys at work really liked it. I think the only thing I would do different next time is use for tator tots.
I made this last night for my family. I have been looking for super easy/fast recipes since I've been working a lot. This recipe was both cheap n filling! My husband and daughter liked it quite a lot, but it wasn't really my cup of tea. It is very heavy (hence the filling part). I did use shredded chedder instead of cheese slices, because it was what I had. My husband went back for thirds.
