These are a great "treat" for the whole family. My kids actually couldn't get enough of these "healthy balls". It was my first time using dates as a method to sweeten up a recipe, and I really liked how it came out. We didn't have enough almond butter on hand, so I combined what we had left of the almond butter (about 1/8 cup) and peanut butter. They did come out with a very strong peanut butter flavor, so I had to add in 1 1/2 more tablespoons of cocoa powder to try and tone it down a little. I will definitely try these again, using all almond butter. With the almond butter having a more subtle flavor, I think it'll will allow all the other flavors to combine nicely. Thanks for such a healthy alternative! We will be making this often!! *** update: I just made these with 1/2 cup almond butter, and they turned out GREAT! I even rolled some of them in unsweetened cocoa powder (to make them look like truffles), and they were terrific!! **** Yet ANOTHER update: I just made these for the 4th time, and this time, I got a little more creative. I used 1/4 cup Coconut BUTTER and 1/4 cup Almond butter. The results were FANTASTIC... Not to mention the added health benefits from the coconut butter!! So good! We rolled them into smaller balls, too...to make them last longer. These are definitely a family favorite! Thanks, again!
