I made the recipe as listed, except used onion powder instead of minced onion (personal preference). This was very good. Not as red (or is that orange?) as I am used to. When I first tasted the meat alone I thought the flavours were nice but it was a bit bland - maybe more chili powder and paprika? But I decided to use it as is and really, it was a good decision. Commercial mixes are so salty, and I think that is what made me think it needed something at first. We used extra lean ground beef and had tacos and nachos and it proved not to be bland at all. Just the right amount of heat for us as well. I chose this recipe based on ingredients and because I would rather mix it as I need it than make a big batch to store (and harden) in a jar. Thanks Wasup, we will certainly be using this recipe from now on!
