This is from Betty Crocker's New Cookbook. Although I am exercising "portion control" by listing the original recommended servings, I have to confess that the four of us finished the entire recipe last time. I am being generous on prep/cook time. If you are somewhat skilled, it should take you less time than that. 6-30-04 Recipe ingredients updated to include onion.

Very good salad which we enjoyed. An onion isn't listed in the ingredients but is listed in the directions, so I just added one small chopped onion. I also used the whole package of cheese (8 ounces) since we really like cheese and crumbled tortilla chips over the top. Next time I would like to serve this in a tortilla/taco bowl with colored tortilla strips. Thanks for sharing this delicious salad!

The flavor of the ground beef mixture and the salad as a whole was great. Next time I will reduce the amount of Thousand Island dressing and sour cream, or serve it on the side for each guest to use the amount they like - it was a bit too creamy or "wet" for our taste.
