This is an absolute kid pleaser!! My daughter was back for seconds before I got to the table! The only change I made was to use a whole jar of chunky salsa instead of the tomato paste. I served with sour cream. Excellent recipe!
I just noticed this had a 2 star rating by me??? Was that a slip or what?? This certainly was a 5 star plus!! Sorry Inez
WOW, this was great! Dh is pretty picky and he actually said it was wonderful. I didn't add onions, olives, or tomatoes, but it was still GREAT and EASY!!!!! Thanks!!
Made this for DH and DS...both loved it..son had 3 helpings! I omitted the onion, olives and tomatoes (picky eaters they are!) but it was still a winner in our house. TY
I thought this was great!! And so simple to put together.....this might replace regular tacos at my house! I served it with shredded lettuce and taco sauce to put over the top!
This was good, more like nachos to me than a supper but still very tasty.I used tortilla chips in mine,I wouldn't use them as the bottom layer again, they were too soggy.I would start with the meat layer.I used salsa instead of tomato sauce and omitted the olives.
Great flavors! Didn't care for the texture of the broken shells after baking though...will have to figure out a substitute for those. Thanks for the recipe...I will definitely make this again!
Not sure why I didn't think of making something like this before! It was great. I was looking for a recipe to use up some ground turkey and this was a great way. The main changes I made were that I used salsa instead of tomato sauce, I added a chopped onion to the turkey, and I added a layer of brown rice to bulk it up some. Next time I think I'll add some black beans as well. My picky husband said I could make this one again, so that's saying something!
This was just ok for me. The taste was good but I felt like it was missing something. I did add rotel tomatoes & black olives but I think if I made it again I might also add diced peppers or jalepenos and substitute hot sauce for the tomato sauce. Just needed a bit more zip and a bit more substance.
I've made this three times and can't believe I forgot to rate it! The kids can't get enough of this (nor can we adults!!) I did make some changes, I added a can of refried beans to the hamburger, a few handfuls of diced tomatoes with jalapenos with the juice squeezed out, 1 can of black beans- rinsed and drained, 1 tsp of garlic, 1 can of corn- rinsed and drained and cumin to taste. I used 3 green onions chopped, and either a jar of salsa or mild enchilada sauce instead of the tomato sauce. I also used Hot and spicey taco seasoning mix as we like things spicey. As the kids say...this is a BOMB recipe and I recommend it to anyone looking for something filling and different. Thanks for posting this great recipe.
