This came out really good. I did have to make some adjustments for our tastes - not adding the extra cheese/baking it. I also used my own taco seasoning, so scaled that and the water to the right amounts for an equivalent flavor and spice. Our salsa is medium hot, so I only added 2/3 cup. Great way to jazz up you mac and cheese.

  • 1 (14 ounce) package macaroni & cheese dinner mix
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 (1 1/4 ounce) package taco seasoning mix
  • 34 cup water
  • 34 cup sour cream
  • 1 12 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup thick n chunky salsa


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Prepare Dinner according to package directions. While macaroni is cooking, brown meat;drain. Add taco seasoning mix and water to meat.; simmer 5 minutes.
  3. Stir sour cream into prepared Dinner. Spoon half of the Dinner mixture into a 8-in.square or 9-in. round baking dish;top with layers of the meat mixture, 1 cup of the cheese and remaining Dinner mixture. Cover.
  4. Bake 15 minute Top with salsa and remaining 1/2 cup cheese.
  5. Bake, uncovered,an additional 5 minute or until cheese is melted.
  6. JAZZ IT UP; For extra crunch, prepare and bake as directed, topping with 1/2 cupcoarsely crushed tortilla chips along with the salsa and cheese.
