Outstanding. Had to dice up sliced baby swiss for this. Doubled the recipe and increased the garlic. FABULOUS and easy. Made tonight with salmon and grilled veggies. Easily 5 stars.

Soooo good! I made it according to directions as this is the first time I've made it. I had everything in the house except Orzo, so I used the pasta that looks like tiny little stars - "Stelline". This is perfect for a side dish with just about anything from rare steaks to spicy sausages. Similar, but very different, to my sister's "Hellzapoppin", which I am submitting.

This was SO yummy! I used vegetable orzo (it gave a really pretty color). I used probably 3/4 C of the swiss, 1 1/4 of sliced mushrooms. I used one fresh garlic clove (thew it in with the sauteed mushrooms), and some lemon juice along with the salt and pepper. Delicious!

I skipped the microwave step and did everything in one pan. I used baby bellas for the mushrooms and this was just a lovely side dish. Went perfectly with grilled steak.

This was a wonderful side dish. I doubled the mushrooms and added some onion too. I think with the onion and the extra mushrooms, it was perfect!

A truly delicious recipe which I'll certainly be making again: enjoyed for today's lunch with two friends! I doubled the garlic and added it in step four after the mushrooms were pretty much as softened as I wanted them to be, for about a minute. I also used more like 2 cups of mushrooms (a mix of button mushrooms and Swiss browns) and added a sprinkling of thyme and a couple of teaspoons of white wine again towards the end of step four, and allowed it to evaporate down... I was just after the added flavour. Thanks for sharing another super-star recipe, bmcnichol! Made for Zaar Stars Tag!

This was really good. It was our first time trying Orzo and we loved it. This dish has lovely depths of flavor and textures. I added a little sweet onion to the mushrooms while sauting and decreased the garlic by half...I have a picky dh. This was a lovely side dish that I will make again.

Yummy stuff! I love mushrooms and mushroom swiss pretty much always works for me and it did here for sure. I loved the level of garlic but then I do like garlic. I used low far margarine and reduced fat swiss and it all worked really well. Like others, I skipped the microwave and just melted the first part of the margarine in a pan and then added the rest of the ingredients the recipe says to add to that butter to the pan and carried on from there. Made for Holiday Tag.

Loved this recipe! I melted the butter in my boiling pan while orzo was draining, sauteed the garlic (used four cloves), mushrooms (8 oz) & crushed red pepper then added the orzo, some frozen peas, mozzarella cheese (had no swiss) & a handful of Parmesan cheese. This was DELISH. DH loved it. This is a keeper.. thanx for a great recipe!

I used swiss cheese but couldn't detect the taste. So maybe next time I would use just cheddar cheese. And there was too much garlic for me. I would omit it probably. Thanks BMCNichol. Made for 123 hit wonders

This was delicious!!! I doubled the recipe, except the amount of butter I left the same. I didn't have swiss cheese, so used a combination of mozzarella, parmesan and romano shredded cheeses. I used baby portabella mushrooms. Very cheesy and tasty pasta dish. Thanks bmcnichol for a great recipe!!!
