I make a container of this once a week & keep it in the fridge to have for breakfast every morning. It is a healthy, nutritious and delicious way to start the day! Experiement & add whatever fruit you like. Prep time doesn't include the overnight soaking, from the "Healthy Living Cookbook".
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 -2 apple, peeled and grated
- 1⁄4 cup chopped hazelnuts
- 1 cup low-fat yogurt (any flavour you wish)
- Combine oats, milk and honey and leave soaking in the refrigerator overnight.
- Next morning, add the grated apple, hazelnuts and yogurt.
I had first had this at the Sheraton Suites complimentary breakfast and was hooked! This is a great, simple recipe that should be taken advantage of. I've made a few batches for myself and even more for my parents who can't get enough. I like adding raisens.
This recipe was excellent. I'm always looking for new ways to give my family a variety of food. I found that finding new recipes and new ways to prepare things work really well. Before today I could never get my daughter to eat oats if it wasn't instant oatmeal, cookies or something if the sort. She loved this and I was very surprised. My oldest son asked to have it everyday. My two year old was reluctant to eat it at first because of the way it looked, but once he tasted a small amount his eyes lit up. He said " OOh mom that's good". I am very please with this recipe. I used a bit of vanilla, and more honey than stated with a mixed berry yogurt. I also put in some dried cranberries, banana, half an apple, blueberries and used pecans. I cant wait to try another variation. THANKS A LOT MARLI!!
This muesli is so good! It taste just like the one I buy at movenpic. I did not have any rolled oats so I instead used quick oats. It turned out great. I also used mixed berries yogurt flavor, put more honey and also added bananas. Thank you for the recipe, now I can have a healthy breakfast! UPDATE!!!: I did another version and it turned out even better: After combining the oats/milk/honey, I added about 3/4 cup of frozen blueberries. The morning after, I added raspberry yogurt, apples and fresh strawberries. It was so good!
