Swiss Green Bean Casserole

"This is a nice change from the traditional green bean casserole. I like it much better. This is my sister-in-law's recipe. She knows she has to bring it to all family functions and that the leftovers (if there are any) are all mine! Prep time includes the time it takes to cook the frozen green beans before assembling the casserole."

  1. This was DELICIOUS!!! From now on this will be the Green Bean Casserole I make!!

  2. Some of my guests at Thanksgiving this year do not like mushrooms, so I had to find a way to make our "traditional" green bean casserole without the mushrooms. Finding this recipe was a godsend. Everyone at the table tried some and most everyone had seconds. Thanks for a "great" change for green beans.

  3. I LOVED this recipe, my family was not as impressed but they are not huge green bean fans either. This was really good and a nice change from the "other" green bean casserole, I am looking foreward to the leftovers today. I followed the recipe exactly except the addition of a bit of garlic powder added to the crumb mixture.

  4. My grandmother makes this casserole every holiday! It's our favorite. When I make it, I often times use different cheeses and it's just as good that way. I have made it with the french fried onions instead of corn flakes and that was good too. I use Pam spray on the dish and it's better that way.

  5. I was looking for a good side dish and this one caught my eye. I made it exactly as given, and it was very very tasty. The only thing that I was wondering about was the amount of cheese. I shredded a 1/2 lb block of Swiss, and I thought it was way too much cheese for the green beans. Maybe I had less green beans then it called for by mistake. I greased the pan with butter which I would not do again because it made it too greasy. This recipe is my kind of dish. I loved it. Thank you pines506.

OK lets see...My name is Diane and I'm married to a wonderful guy -- going on 20 years. We have 2 kids -- 1 daughter and 1 son a 70lb german shepard, a fat cat and a very snobby cat! I work a couple of days a week in the Loop and the rest of my time is spent sitting at the kids sporting events. I love to try new recipes. Luckily, hubby will try just about anything. The kids aren't so eager about that, but are generally very good sports about it!
