Swiss Chard

This is a really old method of cooking swiss chard. It is very tasty. We serve this with boiled potatoes, and a mixture of apple cider vinegar, water and a little sugar, for sprinkling over. Prep time does not include soaking the meat overnight.

I had some frozen Swiss Chard, and I have had a craving to have them, so saw this simple recipe and decided to try it. I threw in some potatoes during the cooking time, and what a feast we had! Good old fashioned yummy chard can't be beat! I look forward to making my swiss chard this way from now on, as it's so simple and amazingly delicious to boot!


  1. Soak salt meat overnight in cold water.
  2. Drain off water.
  3. Put meat in a large pot with enough water to cover it.
  4. Cook 1 hour.
  5. Add swiss chard to pot and cook 45 minutes longer or until swiss chard and meat are tender.
  6. Drain off water and serve.
