This is so simple, it's not really even a recipe (although if you wanted to, you could make the buns and mincemeat from scratch). We made it with the Brownies one week and they loved it (we wanted to do cooking but we don't have a working oven), so I thought I'd post it for a fun recipe for kids to try.

Set this all up for a small monthly group I host ~ Hawaiian sweet rolls & whole wheat buns, mincemeat, chunky PB & honey, along with both all-fruit peach AND strawberry spread, as well as some shredded chicken breast ~ & it was a hit for all us young/old kids at heart! I did heat up 2 cups of the mincemeat, 'cause I wanted more than just a tablespoon on mine, & I was surprised at how many included the latter, considering those who usually frown everytime mincemeat is mentioned! - 16 hot cross buns (or any sweet bun)
- 1 cup mincemeat
- butter (optional)
- peanut butter (optional)
- jam (optional)
- honey (optional)
Directions See How It's Made
- Slice and toast the hot cross buns (or if you don't have anything at all to cook with, it's just as good cold!).
- Spread with anything you want (or leave plain).
- Warm the mincemeat in a microwave or on a stove until it starts to bubble, then put about a tablespoon in each bun. Enjoy while warm!
