I made this for Thanksgiving dinner - doubled the recipe, and only had two servings left to take home! Thanks!!
I made this recipe last year, and plan on making it again! It was HUGE hit at last Thanksgiving dinner. I did change up the topping, however. I put big fat marshmallows on top instead and baked those for a bit until they were toasted. The topping you have sounds so good so I might have to try it that way at some point. Thanks for sharing!
I forgot to rate this, I have been making it for the last 2 years. Fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
I tried this recipe today and it was really lovely! I even took my own photo of it. It was true to the recipe and the pictures...we are planning to make it again for Christmas.
This is a twist on a classic southern family recipe...we have been making this for years! The only difference is we slice the cooked sweet potato and layer it with little slabs of butter and brown sugar/pecans and do about 4 layers to fill the casserole dish - then bake for 15 minutes before you serve, plus another 5 with the marshmallows on top! mmm mmm mmm! The dish holds together better that way, and is less soupy. Nevertheless, an awesome classic!
Was looking for a recipe to make for Easter dinner last week and I came across this one. AWESOME! It was the best Sweet Potato Casserole that I have EVER had, and I have had a many!!! Did not very from the recipe at all and it turned out GREAT! Nothing was left!!! Thanks for sharing such a FaBuLoUs ReCiPe!!!
Four stars because I didn't actually eat the finished product. I tasted the potatoes (good) and the uncooked praline-like topping (hollerrr!)... but couldn't eat it because I made it for lunch at the homeless shelter. EVERYONE THERE RAVED OVER THESE POTATOES!!!! I plan on making them again for myself!!!
For some reason this just didn't do it for DH and me. I looked for a sweet potato casserole recipe because I didn't have my mom's, and I think I didn't like yours as much because it didn't taste like hers (sorry! I know that's lame. I believe hers has only butter and brown sugar). It was just too sweet for us - who knew there could be such a thing! Thanks anyway for sharing!
I tried this for Thanksgiving and my family went crazy. Normally they rave about my stuffing but not this year. It was all about the sweet potatoes.
Great recipe. Just as I remember it.
