Excellent recipe - Even someone that does not care for sweet Potatoes had 2 helpings. I did cut back on the sugar & honey to 1/4 cup of each. I got the casserole ready in the AM and put it in the oven 40 minutes before dinner - I served it with a boiled ham, Asparagus & baked potatoes This is a keeper Thanks Beachgirl

Yummy! I had hoped the sauce would end a little thicker, but overall delicious!

I created my own variation of this recipe and used a crunchy granola topping. It was a hit! From now on, it will be a part of my Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. Thank you!

Tasty recipe, but not very visually appealing. I will cube the baked sweet potatoes and apples instead of creating a layer look and use pecan pieces instead of halves. The sauce tastes like caramel...yum. I left out the liquor.

I made this for Thanksgiving, without the marshmallows. I enjoyed it, but no one else touched it. The apples looked dry and 'toasty' but tasted fine. Honestly, the taste was fine but there was just no visual appeal so it got passed up in favor of other items!

Oh, this was sooo good! My Thanksgiving company licked their forks with each bite! I made some minor changes. 1. I used fresh squeezed orange juice in place of the liquior and the lemon juice. 2. I peeled and sliced the potatoes and par-boiled them, 3. I peeled, cored, and sliced the apples into rings. 4. I added 1 tbl. orange zest to the sauce. 5. Since I doubled the amount of everything, my casserole was packed and I was not able to baste, so I covered with foil and browned the last ten minutes. I had intended to leave the marshmallows off, but at the last moment I squeezed some in here and there...just for the kids. Considering how much I made and how much other food I had, I was surprised to find an empty casserole dish at the end of the dinner. Well, I guess they all like it.....you think!!!

Excellent recipe, with or without the marshmallows. The apples (I used Pippins) really added interest, and the sauce was very yummy even though I left out the bourbon.
