This is a really good bread inspired by our local Italian sandwich shop. It makes into a great beef and mozzerella sandwich or the best slightly sweet garlic bread.
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 7 tablespoons sugar
- 1 egg
- 3 1⁄2 cups bread flour
- 2 teaspoons yeast
- Put all ingredients into bread machine.
- Mix on dough cycle.
- When cycle is complete, put dough onto greased surface and let sit for 20 minutes.
- After dough has rested, cut in half.
- Form into 2 long loaves.
- Bake at 375 for 20 to 25 minutes.
Excellent bread! And the leftovers were great for garlic bread! I think the next time I make it (which will be soon!) I'll add just a touch of salt. Other than that, it was a keeper. Mmmmm!
This bread made the most awesome garlic bread! Great texture and flavor.
I made this last week and both loaves were gone in 48-hours. My daughter has been asking me to make it again ever since. She even cleaned the kitchen in exchange for this bread, lol. I followed directions exactly as given but brushed the loaves with butter before baking. Thanks for the post.
