This is a wonderfully scented syrup that we love to use on our Cinnamon Apple Pancakes--that is when we have any left after moistening our walnut apple cake! Serve on warm pancakes or waffles or use to moisten cakes like we do!
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2⁄3 cup water
- 3 tablespoons butter
- Combine all the ingredients except the butter in a small, heavy saucepan.
- Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat to medium. Cook for about 3 more minutes until it thickens up.
- Remove from heat and add the butter.
