This Sweet Corn Bread recipe is perfect with a nice hot bowl of chili beans.
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1⁄4 cup sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 3⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1⁄4 cup shortening
- In a mixing bowl combine all the dry ingredients: Flour, Cornmeal, Sugar, Baking Powder and Salt.
- Add Milk, Eggs, and Shortening. Beat for 1 minute.
- Pour into a greased 9 inch square baking pan and bake at 425 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
I followed the recipe as-is and it was delicious. I like my corn bread a little sweeter but this is a good in-between for those that don't. Thanks for posting!
