Sweet Baked Beans

Here we have another baked beans recipe. Beans have to be soaked for 12 hours. Prep time includes soaking beans.

• Prep Time: 13 hrs
• Cook Time: 4 hrs

Ingredients:

Servings: 4

• 1 lb dried navy beans
• ¼ lb salt pork , diced
• 1 tablespoon dry mustard
• 1 ½ onions , finely chopped
• 2⁄3; cup ketchup
• 2 garlic cloves , minced
• ¼ cup molasses
• 5 cups hot water
• salt , to taste
• black pepper , to taste

Directions:

1. place beans in large bowl and cover completely with cold water, soak for 12 hours.
2. drain beans and transfer to large saucepan. cover completely with fresh water and bring to a boil. season with salt and pepper, cook for 30 minutes over medium heat.
3. preheat oven to 300*F.
4. drain beans and transfer to bean pot. add remaining ingredients, including hot water, season generously. cover and cook for 3 hours in oven.
5. thirty minutes before end of cooking, remove cover.
