A very tangy sloppy joe. Hopefully a different version than what has already been posted. Got this from my sister in law.
- 907.18 g ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 304.75 g tomato soup
- 118.29 ml brown sugar
- 59.14 ml mustard
- 59.14 ml vinegar (or less to taste)
- 177.44 ml ketchup
- Brown meat with the chopped onion.
- Add rest of ingredients.
- Serve on toasted bread or buns.
Great recipe! I did substitute tomato sauce for the tomato soup because of an allergy, but I really don't think it changed the taste much. Very easy and much tastier than that canned stuff. Made for PAC Spring 2010.
Because of seeing Breezytoo's photo on the Pac forum, I decided to make these tonight also. The only changes I made were minor ones. I added salt and pepper to the meat while it was browning, since we don't care for unseasoned meat. I also found it soupy so let it simmer for about a half hour on high heat to reduce the juices. It is a very good recipe...but needs longer cooking.
Very good! A mild version of sloppy joes without all those green peppers most call for, which was great for me! I did cut back half on the brown sugar and was glad because for our tastes using the full amount would have been a bit too sweet for our liking. Let it simmer for the better part of an hour to let it thicken some as well. Thanks for sharing your recipe :) Made for PAC Fall 09
