  • Cook bacon until crisp and remove from pan.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Saute onion in drippings.
  • Add brown sugar, vinegar and green beans.
  • Crumble bacon into mixture.
  • Simmer 20-30 minutes.
  • Garnish with almonds and pimento, if desired.

  1. these green beans turned out pretty good. The recipe doesnt state if the green beans should be drained or not. I didnt drain mine and there was alot of juice. The flavor was good but I ended up adding more brown sugar to level out the vinegar a little more. I will probably serve these again but with variation.
     
  2. I loved these beans. I was leary of the brown sugar, but they were perfect. I used six slices of bacon because it was the end of the package. Sauted the onions in olive oil. Thanks for a very good recipe.
     
  3. These are delicious! I had them at a wedding last weekend and went in search of a recipe. I've had them with and without the almonds, both ways are good. I've never tried the pimiento, though. VERY tasty.

  5. This is very good. The almonds were good as a garnish (didn't have any pimento)too. I will definitely make again.
