If you invented this OUTSTANDING recipe, you should definitely get your own cooking show and write a cookbook too! This is better than lots of sushi I've had, because of the "crunch" from the rice cake - ironically, since I don't really like rice cakes. They're so good in this application. I used neufchatel cheese to cut down on fat, and chilled the salmon mixture for a few hours. I couldn't taste the wasabi so next time will make wasabi paste and spread it across the rice cake before the salmon mixture. This unbelievably does satisfy a sushi craving!

Wow, how impressive that you made this up! I can see why this went into someone's best of the year cookbook, it really is that delicious. I used fat free cream cheese and lox (to approximate the raw salmon I get in my Philadelphia rolls). I think putting a little thinly sliced cucumber on these would complete the perfection. I could see crab or other vegetarian items replacing the lox too. This was super filling for breakfast, it could feed twice as many for some people.

Picholine, you are a genius! I made this exactly as posted (using salmon), but just doubled everything. I also found some tamari rice cakes which upped the sushi factor. We really enjoyed this, and I now try to make sure I have the ingredients on hand.

Thanks to Best of 2011 Cookbook Official Game I picked this nice recipe to try.

Being a sushi lover I could not wait to try this. I love it.

The next time I make this recipe I would love to try other options with this like I would go out and buy.

      So worth trying.

What a neat idea! I don't like canned salmon, but leftover salmon works great here, too. I also like more sesame seeds (more like 4 times as much for me), wasabi paste instead of powder, and pickled ginger is a must for me (again, personal preference). This is a nice lunch. Thank you!
