Very nice. Very mild. Very crispy.

This had really good flavour! Even though I used a non-stick pan and took my time, the coating didn't adhere very well to my fish - I used sole (& a chicken breast for hubby).

This was awesome. I heated a can of Italian-style chopped tomatoes and drizzled over the individual portions just before serving. My kids, who are pretty reticent about fish in general, ate two helpings each.

This was very good. I like the crispiness the breading creates. I'm a novice at fish frying so mine turned out a little dry, but this was definitely good - my 3 year old even loved it. Served with steamed broccoli - YUM!

I've made these before with the butter and herb mashed potato flakes (so you dont' really need the herbs in that one other than a dash of cayenne pepper) and the fish is awesome! I always use Cod because its very mild and the kids and adults love it alike. Thanks for posting on here for all of us!

Yum! This is great. I have tried it the way the recipe is written & I love it & then tonight I switched it up a bit & used the instant potatoes & cajun seasoning with a bit of salt & pepper. Really good. This is a great way to have crisp fish with very little added fat. All I did was spritz some olive oil in the pan & they came out crispy & brown. A keeper for sure, thanks Bergy!!

Awhile ago, someone else posted photos of Surprise Coated Crisp Fish Filets. Instantly, the recipe was popped into my cookbook. I knew it would be a quick and easy meal that we would love. I wasn't wrong, and love that the photo forum provides so many good dinners for us. I used tilapia, as it defrosts very quickly, and as of 4pm today, I had no idea what was actually going to be on our dinner table. I served it up with Zucchini Couscous and some sliced tomatoes.

Barb the instant mashed potatoes made a wonderful coating for my talapia. I used different seasonings but the potato flakes made all the difference, it browned up so nice and crisp. I may never use cornmeal again. Thanks for a great idea, I would never have thought to use instant potatoes this way. Definitely a keeper!

No surprise, we loved it! The seasonings in the coating were just right for us and the potato flakes added a different flavour than the usual crumb coating. Quick and easy and very tasty. I used tilapia fillets which only needed about 8 minutes altogether. Thanks, Bergy!

I enjoyed how well this browned up with very minimal oil. It was a little too much thyme for my taste,so I would reduce it by half. Thanks for this "suprise."

This fish was awesome! It browned up beautifully with just a bit of olive oil. The texture was wonderful, and the combination of spices was perfect. I used a salted cod, and it was just about the best cod I've ever made. Great recipe!

Used mahi mahi and added a little grated parmesan cheese to the mix. This browned up beautifully and was very tasty. As a fish lover, I will try this again with catfish and tilapia. Thanks Bergy.

A firm favourties for both my daughters. For the girls seasonings I used garlic salt and a pinch of curry powder. Dave also bought home some squid which worked really well - for us adults I added some chilli powder. Thank you Bergy for posting :)

Followed this recipe fully and really enjoyed. I rarely breadcrumb anything but this gives you a crispy outer on the fish without using a lot of oil to cook it. I have a heavy based not stick pan and just used spay olive oil to cook the fish. The other thing that I really like about this recipe is that you will have the choice to vary the herbs/spices to suit your mood. This will go into my favourites.
