Super Vegan Beer Bread

"I suck at baking. We needed a quick bread to go with pea soup as its mysteriously cold lately. We dumped approximate ingredients in a bowl, mixed them with a bottle of beer and it ended up quite delicious. We sprinkled it with sesame seeds but I guess poppy seed would be better. You judge who is right."

  1. I just wanted to let you know that not all beers are vegetarian. Many use isinglass, which is made from fish, as a clarifying agent. To keep this vegan, you will need to make sure that the beer you use does not use animal products in brewing.

  2. The other recipe on this site, titled "Beer Bread" instead of "Super Beer Bread", differs in that it calls for three cups of flour instead of two. I'll have to try that. This one I've made twice and the best way to describe it is as a giant, savory muffin.

  3. Made this several times now. It is excellent. Love it with Porter style beer. Don't see how it can get any better.

  4. Yummy! I never thought to sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on it. It is also good with 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning added to the batter. If you layer the dry ingredients in a jar or cello bag and attach a recipe card it is a nice gift as well.

I am a young aspiring chef from Montreal. I'm a student cook and I work as a barista (fun times!!!) and I have seriously busy days that lasts forever, so now i love quick fix recipes that takes no time to whip up at 11 pm when i get home. Well i was vegan, now I am back to an lacto-ovo diet for the sake of my class. I have to taste meat at school, and I'm ok with that. But at home, only farmer eggs, happy cow milk that comes from small farms.... and yummy honey from my hometown, Percé, Quebec.
