I just made this cake for my son's birthday. I was trying to avoid boxed mixes, but will end up having to buy one anyway. After following the recipe to a T, I ended up with a cake less than 1/3 inch thick and half of it remained in the pan after heavy greasing. The crumbs remaining were bland. It was also very, very dry. I will continue searching for a good cake recipe.

The perfect moist chocolate cake. After so many times trying to bake different recipes of the best chocolate cake for me, I hit it with this one and already baked using this recipe three times. I shared the cake to my co-employees and they loved it! I only lessen its sugar content of 3/4 cup instead of 1 cup because of the chocolate caramel topping I used.I also add coffee to enhance the taste. It was great!
This is a good recipe , if you are not liking the taste. I would recommend you try making this recipe but substituting Swiss Miss , or Tim Hortons Hot Chocolate Mix instead of using Cocoa.Since Cocoa has a bitter taste. :)
DO NOT BOTHER MAKING THIS CAKE. I followed the recipe exact and ended up with a flat cake.
I baked this cake. It was not moist at all. Taste was not good. I have baked several chocolate cakes and I can tell that this one was the worst one.
Love love lovee! I just made 4 of these cakes... Doubled each batch to make med sized cakes and they were all fantastic! Moist, held there own and I was surprised as no eggs. I did however use self raising flour and changed nothing else... Perfect! My new chocolate cake recipe and so blimin easy. Thank you whoever came up with this recipe! And the easy ingredients... It was kind of weird I followed the steps perfectly and came out with a super moist yet dry cake. The flavor was ok, not the best but not making this again.
Really a very good cake.
