This is from the best book EVER if you want to feed extremely healthy and yummy food to your baby or toddler: Super Baby Food. This recipe is "super" because it packs a nutritional punch. The Vitamin C in the kiwi works well with the calcium in the cottage cheese and the iron in the wheat germ. You can substitute banana for the kiwi and yogurt or yogurt cheese for the cottage cheese. If you use banana, serve with orange juice to get the extra vitamin C.
- 1 kiwi, cut into pieces or 1 kiwi, fork-mashed
- 2 tablespoons cottage cheese
- 1 tablespoon wheat germ
- 1 pinch honey
- 1 pinch nutritional yeast (for the B vitamins)
- Mix it all together. OR I usually coat diced kiwi with the wheat germ and add cottage cheese on the side. Vary the amounts to work best for your baby's particular tastes. Nutritional yeast is bitter but it's offset by the sweetness of the honey and kiwi.
- I skip the honey.
