Sunset Watermelon Popsicles

"These are Delicious! I concocted this from three different recipes for the most watermelon flavor. The orange juice paired with the watermelon gives these popsicles the color of a beautiful sunset, which is a great time to have one."

  1. These were great!!!!!! They were quite refreshing and great for a hot summer day. The only problem is, we made too many popsicles and eventually they weren't quite as delicious because they'd been in the freezer for a while. I'd say you should make a small amount because they'll eventually get a little less yummy in the freezer. But they're still very delicious, thanks for the recipe!

  2. Well, I for one don't like orange flavor in my watermelon, but then that's just me. I've had good luck just pureeing watermelon and freezing it. It's a great way to extend watermelon season. I like to make dripless popsicles. For this recipe, you could cut the amount of puree down to maybe 3 cups and mix up a small box of watermelon-flavor jell-o according to package directions, and combine the two. Nothing more. These hold their moisture longer in the freezer too. You could puree cantaloupe and mix it with, maybe pineapple or lemon or apricot. I do like cantaloupe and apricot.

  3. I did not care for these popsicles. They had an odd, bitter taste to them. My husband and I ate one, but I ended up throwing out the rest. I'm sorry I wasn't able to give this recipe a better review, but I am glad to see others here enjoyed the recipe.

  4. Wow! This is absolutely beautiful. The ratio of OJ to watermelon is perfect and it is seriously delicious enough to serve as a drink!! I made the kids' popsicles with 3/4 of the juice and drank the rest :-). I did halve the sugar AND I blended in the seeds because I just read that they are high in protein, fiber, magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron, phosphorous, zinc, etc. (Unless you have a really powerful blender, don't blend in the seeds if you're serving this as a drink, though. But the kids won't notice a little crunch amid the icy popsicle! ;-)). I did not have color-separation issues probably because I *really* blended it!

  5. I made these easy treats several times over the past summer and they're great. They did seperate in color a bit, but they were quite pretty with that rosy blush. Great cold thrist quencher and even if I didn't add any sugar they were still very good. This recipe's a keeper for me. I liked that there was actually some nutrients in them, too.
