ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup quick oats
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1 1⁄2 cups raisins
- 1⁄2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1⁄2 cup oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Lightly grease cookie sheets.
- Mix dry ingredients completely.
- Add remaining ingredients one at a time, mixing completely.
- Drop using teaspoon (not measuring spoon) onto cookie sheet.
- Bake at 375°F for about 12 minutes or until slightly brown on the bottom. Rotate and turn cookie sheets half way through.
- Cool completely on cooling rack.

Wow, I'm impressed with this recipe. The cookies had a great taste! I did change a few things though: Added 1/4 tsp of almond extract to add more flavor, cut down by half the cloves since I'm not a big fan of them. Used 3 tsp of vanilla instead of 1 (depends on how strong is your vanilla extract though, mine is not that strong) I made the unsweetened applesauce using 4 apples and 3/4 cup of water, with 1/4 tsp of cinnamon, cooking them for about 10 min, then mashing them with a potato masher while still warm. This cookies don't spread though, so you have to spread them a little bit before putting them in the oven. The texture too, is a little bit on the soft side, muffin like, I may use butter next time to see how it goes. But overall, great taste, great combination of spices! :)
