These sugar cookies are my husband's favorite comfort food. His mom made them for Christmas every year. I continue the tradition, but I make them for all the other holidays as well. The secret to getting these cookies perfect is to keep the dough cold and roll them very thin.

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Cream the butter and sugar. Beat the egg and add it to the butter mixture. Add the cream and vanilla.
  2. Sift the flour, salt, and baking powder. Add to the creamed mixture. chill dough overnight. Roll small amounts of dough on lightly floured surface. Roll very thin. These will turn out like a sweet cracker. The thinner the better. Cut out cookies with your favorite cookie cutters. Sprinkle with sugar.Bake on a greased cookie sheet a 350 degrees for about 8 to10 minutes. Watch carefully, they get done quickly.
