  • CREAM together butter and sugar.
  • ADD- eggs and vanilla.
  • SIFT TOGETHER AND ADD TO WET INGREDIENTS 2 1/2 cups flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and few drops of lemon juice.
  • Stir baking soda into buttermilk and add to mixture. Stir in the last cup of flour.
  • Chill overnight. Roll out (1/4 to 1/2 thickness) on floured board. Cut into desired shapes. Sprinkle with sugar if you don't plan to ice them. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
