This recipe was in our church cookbook.
- Make milk from water and milk powders.
- Add vinegar and let sit for 10 minutes.
- Use as you would buttermilk.
You can also use 1 cup of milk (not skim, or 1%) and add 2 tblsp white vinegar to it. Stir and then let sit on counter for at least 15 minutes. A very good substitute, and not everyone has powdered milk on hand, but thanks for an alternative.

This worked really well for me. I hardly EVER have buttermilk on-hand, so recipes like this are always a lifesaver. It doubles easily. I used it to make Recipe #53895 for dinner tomorrow and this recipe really did the trick. I will be using this recipe for many years to come, thanks so much for sharing!
