This is an excellent recipe. I also made some adjustments for personnel preference. I omitted the rice (only because I wanted the salad now and was too impatient when it came to cooking it). I cut the avocado up and mixed it into a salad form (easier for my toddlers to eat). I added a little more ginger, wasabi and mayo just for taste. Lastly, my family absolutely loves dried seaweed so I took a couple of sheets of seaweed and cut them into thin strips I then mixed them into the salad. Thank you so much for a fast easy and YUMMY meal.

I made this with proper sushi rice, used sour cream since I didn't have any mayo, and only used cream cheese and green onion for fillings. Easy-to-make reminder of sushi, thanks for sharing.

I am the only person in my house who likes avocados! I love California Rolls so I decided to make this for myself. I made the salad part and stored it in the refrigerator and just added it to avocado halves. I had it for lunch for a couple of days. It was wonderful. I'll make it for myself again!

Very good & easy. My family loved it. Next time I would chop of the avocado too, it would make it a little easier to eat :) Thanks for posting!

This is great! My favorite part of a california roll is the avocado so this is perfect! The only thing I would change is add more crab/shrimp and way more wasabi! You can't go wrong with this one.

What an amazing substitute for sushi! I basically took your idea and adjusted it to suit my taste. I used less avocado, more rice, added carrots and used an entire package of imitation crabmeat. It had all the taste of sushi without all the hassle - what more could you want?!

Thank you for this recipe Kelbel! I found this recipe after failing at making California rolls (we don't have the right kind of rice here). I saved the ingredients from the failed dinner and my sweet hubby was pleasantly surprised when I served this to him last night for dinner. I only had fake crab so I blended it in the food processor with the mayo and wasabi and soy sauce. I increased the mayo a bit so it would be a little creamier (way he likes it). The amount of wasabi paste was just right. So fast, so easy, and he liked it! Woo hoo!

This is the best recipe I've ever tried online!! I skipped the ginger but I loved the way it turned out! I ate a whole avocado full myself!

I eat low-carb but love sushi, so I adapted these a bit and they turned out SOOOOOO good! I simply left out the rice and added a smidge extra mayo (how's that for a professional-sounding measurement, eh?). They disappeared almost as fast as I could fill the avocados. Which meant, of course, that I had to whip up more. So on the next batch I made half with baby shrimp and half with chunks of leftover ahi tuna steak I had. Then I guarded them to be sure I got one of each. (Yep, I was hungry!) Good thing I did: the second batch disappeared almost as fast as the first. Thank you for sharing this!

SSOooooooooooo Good! So like sushi! Wrapping this in lettuce with just a slice of avocado for a lower calorie meal would be ideal. In a tortilla wrap with lettuce would be great too. Gochiso-sama! first review was on Mar 31, 2006
