This is one of my DH's breakfast standards which I made up several years before I discovered zaar. He takes this whole amount himself because he doesn't have lunch before 3 or 4 pm, but it's enough for 2 persons.
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 2 scoops vanilla protein powder
- 1 tablespoon flax seed oil
- 1⁄2 lemon, juice of
- 3⁄4 cup buttermilk
- 3⁄4 cup pineapple juice
- Put everything in a mixer or blender and mix until smooth.
Refreshing smoothie! I used crushed flax seeds in place of the oil and I also added about 2 teaspoons lemon zest. I think this was the first time using buttermilk in a smoothie and I like that extra "bite" especially in the morning! Prepared for Beverage Tag game.
What a great breakfast treat! I have been to get some more flax into our diets and this fit the bill. I used fresh berries that I froze. Thanks for sharing.
I normally make boring smoothies with the usually ingredients and whatever fruits I have that I need to use up, but this recipe was different and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, but I did! It's just the right amount of ingredients to where its not as sweet as usual, which is what I like. Great recipe!
