Strawberry & Cream Bath Salts

"Make for yourself or as a gift. If you don't like the strawberry try Peaches & Cream or Lemon Meringue, adjusting the fragrance and the color, or make a blue and white version using a fragrance of your own choice. Note: Regarding to the review that uses Kool-aid I would like to say that I have never used that and I am not sure or it will leave stains."

directions

  • Put the salt in a large glass mixing bowl, add the glycerin and mix well.
  • Divide the mixture in two, to one part add food color until the desired shade is reached, mix very well, if you use liquid food color be careful that the mix doesn't get too wet, if necessary leave the color pink instead of red.
  • Add the fragrance oil.
  • In another bowl, add the vanilla fragrance to the other part and mix well.
  • The fragrance amounts are not "to taste" but "to smell".
  • Cover both bowls and leave to stand for an hour, and then mix again.
  • Have some clean jars ready and fill them by alternating the layers, holding the jar at a slight angle, this way you get the layered sand effect Cover the lid with a piece of nice cotton or paper, tie with string or ribbon, and provide with a label Use 4 to 5 tablespoons per bath.

  1. I passed this along to a friend who was searching for something homemade to give for Christmas gifts. Guess what? She gave me some too!! She made several batches adding the glycerin and using the strawberries and cream fragrances. I absolutely love it!! I promised her I would give you this 5-star review. We both thank you for this creative idea and recipe.

  2. This is spectacular! I've now made a few of these with different 'scents' :-) THanks for the recipe!!!

  3. My neighbour insisted on making this and made two batches, one for her and one for me.(I hope that counts) She said it was so easy, and absolutely loves it. I have the finished product. She had to use liquid food colouring. I've never seen powdered in Canada. I was planning on making this myself but when she saw the recipe she was insistant that she would make it. i had the oils already (essential oils), although I made my own strawberry oil as I could not find it. I did not know how to make the fragrant oil but it worked out so I guess I did Ok. We have enough to make the neighbour hood smell great

  4. This was so easy to make and the house is smelling terrific. Smells like springtime only it is fall. Oh well, so much for timing. So glad I stumbled upon this recipe...can't wait to try other scents. Will be a great addition to a gift basket! ~k

Hello, my name is Bonnie and I am a very beautiful cat as you can see if you look at the picture at the top of this page.... What??.. I am supposed to talk about you??? But it says here: About Me!! Well all right then ...... My mom is Dutch and has moved to England in October 2007, after living 15 years in the Netherlands with my English dad. They don’t have any human children and “created” their own family, which means I have to share them with Hannah, she is a 6 years old tortie cat, Abby the dog, she is a 9 year old Beagle, and a one year old black Miniature Pincher named Poppy, I refuse to tell you my age but I am a georgious lilac British Shorthair cat!! It is obvious she adores pets just by looking at her name she uses on Zaar (many on Zaar call her Pets or Petsie Poo), her name in real life is Annelies and that is a common Dutch name. My mom always liked to cook, but since she joined Zaar it got out of control, and it doesn’t help that she is disorganized. Printed recipes everywhere in the house, the recipe binders have got bigger and just between you and me, her hips too!!! I have lived in Holland all of my life until now, but they lived in several different countries/places:- desert and coastal Oman, up North and West in Holland, Vancouver-Canada, Aberdeen- Scotland and in Norway they lived in Bergen and Oslo. We have all moved together to England, as you can see I’ve already learnt the language! I heard her say to Dad that this is the last time she moved to another country...she's had it with moving from one place to another! ( its her age...she's getting grumpy) Mom is 55 years old but I always hear her say that the date of her birthday does not mean that much to her, the date of her cancer anniversary is more important, because so far she is a survivor. Besides cooking she has other interests too, crafts, gardening and soap making. She likes Zaar and is one of the hosts on the German-Benelux Forum here on RecipeZaar. She would like to thank everybody who tries and comments on the recipes she has posted on Recipezaar, your feedback is very much appreciated.
